Resumen

This essay is a brief summary of a research work considerably wider on the conservative way of thinking of the United States. The close historical and cultural links and mentality in the United States between religion and politics from the early colonial settlements, were crystallizing over time in a braid of republican values and religious that with the Calvinist ethic background and references to the classics of republicanism, reaches a projection unstoppable since the revolution in forward. The expression of this interweaving is the experiment republican -and rousseaunian notion of the civil religion as public manifestation of those values-, on the one hand; and on the other hand, the notion of destination assumed ideologically from the weight that the Christian religion itself has represented in that country.
