Abstract

This article is a bibliographic review and presentation of clinical cases dealing with the topic which follows. The gingival recession is present in 8% of the children and that it increases with age, affecting a large number of people over 50. Generally speaking within the etiopathology mechanisms, we can point out: brushing techniques, gingival inflammation, insufficient alveolar palate and frenum. To solve these problems we must turn to Mucogingival Surgery. Its purpose is to solve the lack or abscence of inserted gum.. Within the techniques we can use grafts to obtain a wider and thicker inserted gum prior to the orthodontic treatment. The purpose of this paper is to show whether it is necessary or not to stabilize and increase the thickness of the gingival tissue with the help of grafts prior to an orthodontic treatment.
