Abstract
The Pedriza de Manzanares is a granite rocky landscape into the limits of the National Park of Guadarrama. Much of the surfaces of these rocks are covered with hard crusts (case-hardening) that control surface weathering and the distribution and development of micro-relief (roughness). We have measured and analysed some factors (morphology, temperature, relative humidity and hardness) involved in the process of destruction of such case-hardening, that lead to the formation of surface irregularities. Particularly, we studied roughness at centimeter and decimeter scale on a rock-wall called the Murito (little or short wall).
