Abstract
During the reign of Carlos III the exploratory activity on the Hispanic territories intensified. They sought new riches and exploited better the usual ones; Was intended the control of those kingdoms (in the internal order and in front of European competitors); The recognition and revision of the borders was longed for, increasing, if possible, its breadth. Numerous expeditions and trips were organized for this purpose, with a common denominator: reports and maps.
