Abstract
This work describes the electro-osmotic guillotine, an equipment developed for longitudinal corecutting of Quaternary lacustrine sediments. This prototype was designed to split the Fuentillejo Maar core (FU-1) in half for palaeoclimate research. The application of the principle of electroosmosis for cutting unconsolidated clay-rich sediments reduces distortion during the division process. The Geological Survey of Spain (IGME) has the patent rights of this prototype designed.
