Résumé

An evaluation about the cytotoxicity of different extracts from Sorghum halepense was made. The Chemical fractions were obtained by the criteria of Geissman (1956). NaHCOg, Na2C03, NaOH and Neutral Part fractions were obtained from this partition technic. Extracts from Neutral Part in column chromatography were tested. Different solvents were used: Hexane, Hexane/Ethyl ether 7/3 (V/V), Ethyl ether and Methyl alcohol. Cytotoxicity was evaluated by the nitial or indicative test in CHO (Chínese Hámster Ovary) cells with and without activation metabolic system (S9 Mix). The extracts were used in concentrations of 1,0; 2,5; 5,0; 7,5 y 10,0 mg/ml. Inallofthem, the cytotoxicity was higher withS9 Mix than without S9 Mix. The cytotoxicity increased according to the extract concentration. The Ethyl ether extractshowedthe highestcytotoxicity, followed by the Methyl alcohol extract and the Hexane extract was the lowest one.
