In the following pages we go over the most significant and outstanding of one of the corps intended for the protection of the sovereign in the Spanish Court during the Hispanic Monarchy. Coming from Flanders, the archeros arrive to Spain with Philip I the Handsome and remain until the first years of the 18th century. Élite corps, its organization and performance left a lot to be desired in the 17th century, without fruitful attempts to reform, embodied in series of Ordinances and norms, whose publication is happening throughout the years of its existence.
