Zusammenfassung
The Iberian Massif can be assimilated to a large pediplain that buckles and fragments, originating elevations and depressions. As it can be inferred from DEM analysis parallel, more or less equidistant E-W lineaments, reshape the pediplain in depressed troughs where the main drainage converges. The origin of this morphology could be induced by lithospheric flexures that configure large troughs, but westward drainage integration consists of successive long-lasting piracy processes connecting the several isolated tertiary basins. Complementary fractures would fragment and shift this main system of large flexures, favouring the incision of other streams to determine the present zigzag rivers pattern.
