Résumé
This study starts off with a short review of the main mechanisms that channel the positive effects of human capital in national economic growth. It then goes on to offer a diagnosis of the humancapital endowment of Spain compared with the EuropeanUnion and USA, on the basis of an indicator that corrects some of the limitations of the one forward by Barro and Lee (1993). Lastly, the study contains a comparative analysis, vis-à-vis same countries, of a series of indicators demostrating the relative quality and efficiency of the Spanish educaational system, which actas the basis for supporting certain educational policy recommendations.
