Androginia psicológica y flexibilidad comportamental

The authors investigate the hypothesis of androgynous subjects as being more flexible in terms of their implication and confort, when confronted to tasks culturally typified as adequate to the �other� sex. They start by reviewing the psychological literature about psychological androgyny and behaviour flexibility; then, they specify their hypothesis� aims: to prove that androgynous subjects a) will show a higher implication in both masculine and feminine tasks, b) will show less of a preference to the tasks adequate to their sex, and c) will experience a higher psychological well-being performing these activities than any other group of sexual role. After describing the method and results of their work, the authors offer a final discussion, highlighting the fact that their research seems to confirm Bem�s results: the androgynous sexual role seems to experience a higher degree of confort performing tasks that are socially considered as inadequate to their sex and seems also to choose these sort of activities more often. The authors end the work stating that the predictive validity of BSRI (Bem Sex Role Inventary) seems to be also backed by the results.
