Resum

Crespo starts by expressing his purpose to check, even in an elemental way, the potential productivity of considering rationality as an explicative element within a social theory of attitudes. The author says that a concept of rationality, not just useful or instrumental, could be well used to understand some aspects of attitudes dinamics, specifically those in which we may think we change attitude because we are dialectically convinced. Crespo highlights the possibility of considering attitudes, seeing them as processes of assessement significance or as positions in relation to other significances, as social processes susceptible of judgement and eventually, in need of justification or legitimization. The author finishes by extensively reviewing some aspects of the concept of attitude related to its assessment character and its links to action. The comments of Amalio Blanco, Charles Antaki and Mª Dolores Avia assess the presentation and Crespos answer to these authors closes the article.
