Abstract
The debate tackles in a colloquial format some of the theoretical and socially polemic topics in contemporary Western culture, at least from the so-called post-modern culture. Through the perspective and experience of Marcelo Lima's art, the double role of art is discussed: as a social and cultural mirror and thermometer, and as an ethical model of society. The discussion reveals that it is impossible to speak about art without also speaking about politics, ethics, history, psychology, literature or education. Those participating in this debate focus on the fields of science and education to highlight each culture's responsibility in assuming and designing its own future.
