Abstract
The current reality of gender violence should take us to question the past, because the conclusion to this initial approach is clear: today, in the XXI century, we are trying to find partial solutions to the consequence of the aggressions against women and a global solution to gender violence, in spite of its constant and continual historic presence. Society has accepted the reality of gender violence to then proceed to reduce it to single cases, to justify it in the light of particular factors and to contextualize it around some circumstances.This reality must presenbe taken into account in this analysis, and in the assessment of measures which has been set up; otherwise, by using different instruments, we could incur into the same mistake, and perpetuate the breach between reality and perception.From this perspective, the paper analyses the circumstances that have led to this social position, and critically reflects on some of the main measures developed after the new Spanish Law on Integral Protection Measures against Gender Violence.
