Resumo
The article focuses on how television sees the school. It is reported that the percentage of topics related to school is not even 1% of the total amount of information presented on the daily news. Further, it is pointed out that the television seems to reinforce the feeling of conflict and deals with topics such as violence and bullying. Only as regards immigration do daily news stress a positive value of integration, even though immigrants are portrayed as the cause of the lowering educational level in Spain in recent years. References are made to the role of television in education in countries like England, Germany and Italy, with programming aimed at reinforcing the school work and as a tool of ordinary use. It is concluded that one of the challenges is to put the educators and media professional's intelligence and creativity at the disposal of a new television that accepts the commitment to work for education.
