Abstract

The biography of Francisco Largo Caballero, who was the last book published by Julius Aróstegui during his life, leads to the consideration of the peculiar conditions of the biographical genre and its relationship with history. Aróstegui's dedication to biographical genre has its origins in a paper presented in 1986 to the Third Colloquium Contemporary History of Spain, held in Segovia under the direction of Manuel Lara Tuñón. In that same genre is his biography of the Count of Barcelona (2002) and the works on Carlists combatants in the Spanish Civil War. All these contributions are discussed in the text.
