Abstract

Results of the first study conducted on Staphylinidae (Coleoptera) sarcosaprophagous community from a natural mountain environment from Southeastern Iberian Peninsula are presented. A modified Schoenly trap baited with piglets was used. Samples were taken in all seasons during 8 weeks. Specimens belonging to 43 different species were collected. About half of them had not been previously referred from the cadaveric ecosystem. The most representative species were Aleochara bipustulata, Bisnius sparsus and Creophilus maxillosus. For 37 species, faunistic data concerning their first reference from the Región de Murcia are given. The presence in Spain of Omalium riparium is confirmed.
