Résumé

The history of the teaching of chemistry in Spain since the mid-nineteenth century to the present is summarized. To this end, educational laws and curricula, from the Moyano Law (1857) to the LOMCE (2013) are revised. The significant role played in the pedagogical renovation of science by institutions as the Institución Libre de Enseñanza and a number of teachers (Bargalló, Catalán, Comas, Estalella, Moles, Sensat…) is highlighted. Also discussed are some methodological proposals promoted from specialized publications, educational projects and the legislation itself.
