Résumé

Intimate partner violence (IPV) is one of the most important problems worldwide in our society and in the public health infrastructure. The Organic Act 1/2004 was created and implemented to deal with this problem. The purpose of this study is twofold: (a) to analyze the sociodemographic variables and offence characteristics of severe IPV; (b) to assess the level of perpetration and victimization of self-reported aggressive behaviors. For this purpose, the Sociodemographic Questionnaire and the CTS-2 were administered to a prison sample of 1,835 men convicted of gender violence. Descriptive statistics of central tendency and dispersion were calculated, as well as relative frequencies. The results show lower prevalence rates and annual average frequencies for the different subscales of psychological, physical, and sexual aggression and damage (minor and severe) than those found in other studies with penitentiary samples. We found higher prevalence rates and average frequencies in victimization than in perpetration.
