Abstract

We have studied the efficacy of treatment with Thiamphenicol in bacterial keratitis produced by Streptococcus pneumoniae and we have compared it with Tobramicin. We have provocated bacterial keratitis by Streptococcus pneumoniae in 36 eyes of 36 rabitts and we have treated it with Thiamphenicol, to bramicin and Placebo. The stadistical study of the clinical and microbiological findings after treatment, shows that there isn"t significative stadistical difference between both of the antibiotics. Thiamphenicol is at least so effective as Tobramicin in treatment of keratitis by Streptococcus pneumoniae.
