Abstract

Slander is an issue that interests many people because they feel they have gone through the experience of having been subjected to it at some point in their lives. The author studies six films, from different countries, covering from 1935 to 2012, and which address the issue of slander. He applies to these films several concepts of Philosophical Materialism: Ethics, Morals and Politics; Practical sign; The Theory of appearances and some characteristics of procedural terrorism. Next, he identifies the various stages of the slander process. Finally, he devotes special attention to the ways of fighting against slander, having as his background the theory of public opinion of the German researcher Elisabeth Noëlle-Neuman
