Resumo

The European Union must use the challenges posed by a new geopolitical scenario as a way of ensuring that its common foreign and security policy is as effective as possible, promoting a true common strategic culture. The Union is responsible for acting as a global player in a coherent, adequate and combined manner to achieve effective solutions to its members’ common problems. This article reflects upon the efforts to overcome the intergovernmental mechanism in this area and to increase integration, as well as on the procedures developed to achieve that integration, calling for them to be put into action through determined political resolve giving the Union a common voice. The contrary will only benefit those who seek discord, impasse and division in Europe
