Abstract
There is no cure yet for HIV-1, but therapeutic research based on the elimination of the latent viral reservoir by pharmacologic strategies is going on. We summarize here the molecular mechanisms implied in the viral infection and latency, as well as those of the latency-reversing agents so far studied.
