Abstract
In Dona Leon’s novels the city of Venice becomes scenery for crimes, police investigations, chases, political intrigue’s, etc. The present paper studies the spaces of death in A Venetian Reckoning (or Death and judgment) (1995), emphasizing it’s peculiarities and it’s characteristics in common with the classic crime scene in crime fiction. Also, the various functions of urban space –in this case, Venice– in the development of the plot will be reviewed.
