Abstract

In the context of the regional competitiveness of the Spanish regions based on the companies that transfer university knowledge (called university spin-offs or Technology-Based Companies), the Technology Transfer Offices (OTRI in Spanish) and the Scientific Parks play a very relevant role, as well as business incubators. In the case of the Community of Madrid, in addition to these entities, the role of the Fundación Madri+d para el Conocimiento and its Technology-Based Entrepreneur Support Office stands out. All these public services support the region's innovative ecosystem. The types of services are very diverse and range from legal support to financing, as well as the supply of space or facilities and visibility for commercialization. The location of these services is obviously linked to the map of Universities and research centers in the region, but in turn, service networks can be drawn for companies that have their nodes in the indicated entities and that constitute auxiliary support and training networks of the ecosystem of innovation and R&D. In the communication presented, the case of the Community of Madrid will be analyzed and within this region, the public Universities Politécnica de Madrid, Carlos III, Autónoma and Complutense de Madrid will be taken as an example, carrying out a comparative study between them in relation to the support services received by their university spin-off companies. As research methodology, quantitative and qualitative techniques will be used. The treatment of the data offered by RedOTRI (national network of OTRI) and interviews with the key agents of the offices and entities that offer the various services to the companies analyzed will be carried out.
