Zusammenfassung
The following article proposes a critical review of the limestone frieze at the north gate of the entrance hall of the Lambaesis camp, a few kilometres from the present Tazoult-Lambèse (Algeria), dedicated by the praeses provinciae Numidiae Tenagino Probus to the Emperor Gallienus (253-268). We will analyse the morphological, palaeographic and prosopographic particularities of the piece, and then focus our attention on the peculiarities of the military camp at Lambaesis, home to the only cantoned legion in Africa, the Legio III Augusta, restored by Emperor Valerian in 253 as a prize for the support offered that year against Emperor Emilian
