Resum

Since the last third of the 19th century, the Spanish urban world experienced some transformations that were a symptom of improvement but also raised problems. The suburb of Cambroneras in Madrid was a space that during the first third of the 20th century suffered the effects of the segregation process derived from the expansion project in the capital. In addition, it had to face the set of representations that were attributed to it, as a suburb of gypsies and of disorder. This article shows a first approach to change the discourse thrown about this suburb based on an analysis of the socioprofessional profile of residents registered.
