The purpose of this study is about the mechanisms of political legitimization through the epigraphic and sculptural patronage of Minucio Rufo (217 BC). This type of acts was not documented in literary sources and has gone unnoticed by current research, focused on other aspects of war. However, this evergetism served as part of a program of political and religious legitimacy in the dedication of a sculpture sought to confirm its position by becoming the guarantor of divinity which is dedicated and equated in the religious field with Fabius Maximus and Hannibal. This article aims to detail the causes of this patronage and the mechanisms of political legitimation that led to this moment.
