Resum

This article sets out to measure the progress towards price convergence in the grain markets of Santander and Castile during the first half of the nineteenth century. The first part gives an account of the method of analysis adopted while the second part compares and analyses the different curves in intra-annual price movement. Reference is especially made to the wheat market in the towns of Medina de Rioseco and Santander, which enjoyed a close commercial relationship at that time. The conclusion drawn is that, as other authors have pointed out, market integration was still incomplete but, nevertheless, decisive steps were being taken in that direction. This conclusion is borne out by the analyses of the seasonal cycles.
