Résumé

Pregnancy in epileptic women may increase crises and despite anticonvulsant drugs use have been related with teratogenicity, their risk to produce major congenital anomalies in offspring is lower than the risk of an epilepsy poor controlled. Epileptic woman needs to plan their pregnancy, have to receive the better drug for their epileptic type disease, monotherapy if it is possible, and with plasma levels at the lowest therapeutic range. New antiepileptic drugs data available show improvement in comparison to the classic drugs regarding pharmacokinetics and drug interactions, but they are scarce and limited regarding teratogenic effects, accordingly they should not be recommended as a first choice
