Abstract

Five nitrogenous fertilizer rates (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 Kg. N/Ha./cutting) were applied to ray-grass Westerwold sown in pure stand or in mixtures with vetch. D.M. yields increased with nitrogen level. There were no significant differences (P ^> 0.05) in yields among ray-grass grown alone and raygrass/vetch mixtures. The contribution of vetch to forage production was very low in all cuttings and it revealed a poor establishment of vetch. It is concluded that this species is not a good companion crop for ray-grass Westerwold.
