Abstract

Field trials were conducted during three years to study the effect of harvesting stage and sowing rate on yield and forage quality of renugreek (Trigonella foenum graecum) grown under dryland Mediterranean conditions. Yields were significantly (P < 0,01) affected by harvest treatment and year. The highest D.M. yields were obtainded when harvesting at the begining of pod formation or at full pod formation. The effect of sowing rate was variable, depending on annual rainfall conditions. D.M. composition of forage varied with stage of harvesting and year.
