Abstract

Chemical composition, organic matter digestibility and energy content of seven varieties of common vetch and hairy vetch at four stages of increasing matuntv were studied during the years 1974-75 and 1975-76. Samples were analyzed for crude protein, neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber, cellulose, lignin and ash. Organic matter digestibility was estimated by chemical procedure and energy content by Breirem's formula. Significant differences (P<0,01) were found among varieties and withín each variety among stages of harvesting. Hairy vetch gave the lowest figures for organic matter digestibility and energy content.
