Abstract

Yields and growth analysis of fodder bard vetch were studied in a semiarid área. Plants were harvested at seven stages from very early vegetative stage to mature legumes. Growth rate and relative growth rate were determined. The highest yields were obtained from cuts taken between full flowering stage and pod filled stage (6346; 5745 and 3801 kg dry matter/Ha for each three years respectively). Yields were affected significantly by environment conditions and the variation in annual rainfall could explain a significant fraction of the variation in DM yield.
