Abstract

During the year 1971, percentages, composition of the fiber fraction (acid detergent cellulose and lignine permanganate) and digestible D.M. of Aragón, Tierra de Campos, du Puits, Europa, F.D. 100 and Ranger lucerne cultivars have been determined. Digestible dry matter have been estimated by applying the regression equation of Van Soest. Dry matter basis, acid detergent fiber (34,3 % -37,1%), lignin (9,4% -11,1%) and digestible D.M. (61,1 % -63,4 %) varied with the cultivars (P<0,05). Aragón and Tierra de Campos lucernes showed the lowest percentages of acid detergent fiber (34,3 % and 35,2 %) and lignin (9,5 % and 9,4 %). Both of them showed the highest percentages (63,4 % and 62,6 %) respectively for digestible dry matter. The differences between the neutral detergent fiber and cellulose were not significant (P < 0,05)
