From the Hellenistic period, festivals called Katagogia, Katagoge or Katagogio are celebrated in honor of Aphrodite, Kore and Dionysos in different areas of the Greek world. In the present work the denominations of the festivals are collected, the values of the verb κατάγω are analyzed and an overview of the different celebrations is presented. The objective is to analyze whether they have common aspects which justify the use of the same lexeme for celebrations of disparate cults.
