El reloj biológico, la hora de la cena y la siesta en España. Su impacto en la longevidad

Resumen
Nuestras vidas transcurren dentro de una serie de ritmos crono-biológicos que adapta nuestra fisiología a diferentes fases del día. El más básico es el conocido como vigilia sueño. Los ritmos circadianos serian la forma anticipativa de nuestra biología para ajustar nuestro ritmo biológico al día y la noche. Pero la investigación científica ha sido capaz de descubrir que este mecanismo de oscilaciones circadianas es responsable de otras regulaciones, como el hambre, humor, estrés, función cardiaca o inmunidad que van más allá que el ritmo del sueño. Las investigaciones más recientes apuntan a que la crono-disrupción puede estar involucrada en el desarrollo de enfermedades crónicas como las cardio-metabólicas, neurodegenerativas y el cáncer. El concepto de reloj central localizado en el núcleo supra-quiasmático en conexión con los relojes periféricos y controlados por genes sensibles a la luz, es el nuevo paradigma. Prestar atención a los biorritmos importa; por lo que independiente de nuestros genes, los estilos de vida pueden modificar en forma disruptiva el ritmo cronobiológico que repercute de forma importante en nuestra salud y en el sentimiento de bienestar. Nuestras horas de comer pueden defendernos o estimular los malos genes responsables de las enfermedades crónicas
