Resumo

During the last 15 years Madrid City has been intensely growing, increasing the surface of the city and changing ground’s uses in its peripheral area. The aim of this paper is to detect the level of change of the rural areas surrounding Madrid as consequence of constructing of the M-50 orbital Motorway: usually, construction of this kind of transport infrastructure modifi es the rural areas, invading very specifi c rural land uses. The investigation has been done using Remote Sensing images and different Geographic Information Systems
