Abstract

Dropping out in online higher education has multiples and interdepen-dent causes. This paper is based on a literature review from 52 college ropout factors between 2004 to 2019. Results show that the most influential factors to online dropout relate to previous academic perfor-mance, age, gender, personal circumstances and online and self-directed learning skills. Finally, it is discussed some strategies to reduce online higher education dropping out from these factors and promote the per-sistence, and it is offered a few recommendations for future research.
