Abstract

In this work we present the design, fabrication and characterization of a Fourier-Transform microspectrometer implemented with planar waveguides. The device comprises an array of 32 MachZehnder interferometers with increasing optical path differences between the arms of the interferometer, reaching a resolution of 0.1 nm in a free spectral range of 1.6 nm. Silicon waveguides in a spiral structure have been used in the arms of the interferometer, reducing the footprint of the device below 12 mm².
