Abstract

The study presented at the VIII Congress of Social Education, is a bibliographic review of the experiences of victims of terrorism who have participated in restorative meetings with their offenders. This review is aimed at the study of the socio-educational dimension present in restorative justice. To this end, a conceptual framework of restorative justice is initially proposed by linking it with the professional figure of the social educator. Following a methodology is proposed through systematic review by categories, these categories are: attention to the specific needs of the victims and affecting the relational dimension of the victims. Through this method an analysis of the socio-educational dimension of the meetings has been obtained, where a breakthrough in the recovery of victims has been highlighted by a greater knowledge of the crime, as well as, a previously ungiven participation and recognition in retributive justice (model of common justice). It concludes with the adequacy of the socio-educational perspective in the meetings and the contribution of the professional profile of the social educator in them, considering a new paradigm of study and social intervention, including forgiveness, coexistence and democratic values as the axis of restorative methodology, these essential values being in society today.
