Resumen
The purpose of this work is to analyze in depth the socio-educational profile of prison youth in Madrid, together with the relevance of the approach of the professional social educator in prisons in the Community of Madrid. To do this, it begins with a systematic and exhaustive analysis of international educational frameworks and state legislation. Education is considered a fundamental right, as well as the purpose of prisons aimed at the re-education and social reintegration of their inmates. Despite the fact that Social Education is capable of attending to populations with high social risks, specifically in confinement contexts, it is not often used by the staff of professionals for treatment in the Penitentiary Institution. The study is part of a broader investigation, where an in-depth analysis is intended to improve the socio-educational processes taught to the young population of the Spanish penitentiary centres. For its development, it has been analyzed from a qualitative methodology, using the interview as a data collection tool. As a sample, the treatment worker from the penitentiary centres of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, who intervenes with the young prison population, limited between 18-25 years old, has been accessed. The results of this analysis indicate to characterize a socio-educational profile of young people in prison with a series of adaptive, formative and basic skills deficiencies for life in society, which must be worked from the specialization of social education. In this sense, and to conclude the work, it highlights the importance of social education in confinement contexts, adapting its intervention with the young prison population as a measure of sustainability and adaptation to the new times in accordance with the 2030 Agenda
