Résumé

The osseous material analyzed in this study was recovered from Santa María la Real church (Aguilar de Campóo, Palencia), during the excavation campaign of 1988. Its dating was stablished in XIII-XVth century. It is a male individual, about 50 years old, and the skeleton is in a relative good condition despite the skull was not found. From paleopathology point of view, this individual shows osteoporosis and osseous pathologies (osteophytos, hypertrophy, and polished) compatible with osteoarticular degenerative disease diagnosis. However, it is important to remark the lession in the spinal column concernig T2-T6. Only T2, T5 and T6 vertebral bodies are clearly defined. The vertebral bodies from T3 and T4 have almost dissapeared, pressed down by T2 and T5. The articular joints in T2-T6 are fused in both sides, becoming an osseous block. This lession causes a marked kyphosis in this segment of the spine, with an inclination around 40º. It’s developed a differential diagnosis, focussing on a possible traumatic, metabolic (osteoporosis) or infectious (tuberculosis) origin of the lession.
