Abstract

Susan Hiller’s oeuvre, relatively unknown in Spain, lends itself particularly well to an analysis from the perspective of the psychology of consciousness, because it points directly to a questioning of our perception of reality. In addition to the internationally reputed quality of her art practice, is her ability to articulate her thought.In spite of this, so far there is no in-depth case study of Susan Hiller’s work from a consciousness approach. This study aims to elucidate the relation between art and consciousness in the specific case of the artist Susan Hiller’s production, in the light of a psychological view of the aspects and processes of consciousness.To this effect, this thesis discusses the relevant aspects of the psychology of consciousness, examining the relevant sources, which are mostly international.Secondly, it aims to elucidate a set of relevant artworks by Susan Hiller from the perspective of several aspects of consciousness that are appropriate for each specific art piece
