Abstract

This article discusses how the fans communties of the Spanish TV series Isabel (2012-2014) and El Ministerio del Tiempo (2015-) have contributed to the expansion of its canonical transmedia universes, through forums, blogs and social media. In fact, through fanarts and fanfics, these fans have increased the interest of the audience for these TV series mainly in creative, educational and tourist levels. Also, they have reopened the debate on the role to be played by the public state television as a generator of quality contents. The methodology has been used is based on participant observation as aca-fan and a interpretative analysis of the main online fan communities.
