Abstract

Music has acquired relevance as an object of study in International History due to its use as a tool by governments as part of their soft power to project and improve their foreign image. Through a historiographical review and the analysis of the development of Spanish musical diplomacy during Francoism, different factors and elements that characterised the development of this diplomatic practice will be established. This approach to musical diplomacy aims to deeper into this area and to show the great variety of topics and elements that remain to be studied in International History with the revaluation of the role played by different transnational actors in international relations. Keywords: Soft Power, International History, Musical Diplomacy, Classical Music, Flamenco
