Abstract

The Yemeni conflict has become prevalent, with no solution insight between the contending sides, causing a severe humanitarian crisis. Yemen is key because of its strategic location inrelation to several of the world’s most important maritime communication routes. This relevant situation becomes even moresignificant at an historical moment in which the US returns to itstraditional maritime posture, abandoning the inlands, while continuing its reorientation towards the Pacific. This regional powervacuum is gradually being filled by the influence of China and toa lesser size Russia. Meanwhile, regional powers are also jostling for power, highlighting the indirect confrontation betweenIran and Saudi Arabia and the smart position of the United ArabEmirates.
