Resum

In this article I am going to place Beauvoir’s analysis on Sade in the context of the controversy about the feminist or patriarchal nature of the work of this modern author. Following Beauvoir’s proposal, Sade would not properly be a feminist author. Nevertheless, Beauvoir also proposes that he is an unavoidable author to understand the history of sexuality with his proposal of extreme rationalism on sexuality. In order to explain this purpose, Beauvoir presents two Sadean concepts: the radical affective solipsism and the taxonomy of sexual practices.
