Zusammenfassung

This PhD thesis makes a summary through Javier Cercas’ complete literary career, from his beginnings with El móvil (1987) when he was an unknown writer, to Terra Alta, which was awarded with the Planeta prize 2019. Our summary includes an analysis of the author’s context, as well as an elaborated review about the main scenes where, both his life and his work, take place; aspects which help to have a more accurate view of the literary fact. More specifically, our research involves Javier Cercas’ narrative corpus in its whole, going through with a deep interpretation of all his work, especially considering the connections that set the base of his narrative, allowing the author to create different pieces not only with common ideas but also with his own identity, all along his artistic career. According to this methodology, it has been proposed a connected reading of the three stages that form Cercas’ narrative corpus: campus novel, memory novel and thriller. The aim of our research tries to be just the beginning of the analysis of one of the most important contemporary novelists in the Spanish language.
