Afectaciones cognitivas y de personalidad en pacientes diagnosticados con Enfermedad de Alzheimer en México y España.

Resum

The increase in Alzheimer's disease led us to carry out this investigation, whose objective was to describe the particularities of cognitive and personality disorders, in a sample of patients diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, in Mexico and Spain.The sample consisted of 4,028 older adults residing in Spain and Mexico, where we found 2,673 women (66.3%) and 1,355 men (33.7%). The average age of the participants was 82 years and they were homogeneously divided into two groups: an experimental group (EG) and a control group (CG). The participants were evaluated through the application of a Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Personality Inventory NEO-FFI.The results were analyzed by Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and it was possible to find significant differences of neuroticism, extraversion and agreeableness between the Mexican and Spanish participants with Alzheimer's, the last ones with a higher level of neuroticism. Likewise, we found significant differences in cognitive functions: orientation, attention and calculation, and memory recall.
