Resum

Starting from the polysemic meaning that the concept museum has, it is possible to ask whether or not it is necessary to redefine the term museum from a deeper perspective and according to post-modernity. In the face of a constantly changing world, it is worth asking a series of questions about the why and for what of the museum's existence. It will be necessary to review the European centered character of the museum to open it to more universal and pluralist paradigms, where other ways of understanding it can be found from contexts not subject to colonialist regulations. This must lead to the creation of a museum that is more open to divergent and creative discourses that create the space necessary to face the new challenges that globalized society presents to us. The answer to some of the questions that we ask ourselves today about the museum allows us to see that the museum does not allow itself to be enclosed in a single and definitive definition.
